If it's Wednesday, we must be in Copenhagen

Today our ship stopped in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The weather was much nicer today!

The first thing we noticed was all the bikes being ridden all over the place, by all kinds of people. Even the trains accomodate bicycles. Our tour guide/driver needed to be careful to not mow over the cyclers.
Once we were underway, we headed towards town. Along the way, the tour stopped at the statue of "The Little Mermaid" from Hans Christian Anderson fame. The statue was not as big as we thought it might be. It was pretty much life-size for the ballerina that it was modeled after.

We then hit town. Well, the bus driver hit something anyway. And we ended up along this canal where many locals stop and eat in at any one of many restaurants along this historic waterway. Many years ago, this area was a haven for the merchant sea men. Now it is a mecca for tourists. It was very cool, and very packed with people.

We didn't have much time there, but we had enough to get a feel that this would be a great place to come back and visit. After loading back on the bus, we headed off to the winter palace for the royal family. Since it is the heart of summer, they were not home. However, they were nice enough to leave the keys...

... and some guards, too!

In the center of the palace courtyard was a huge statue of one of the Kings.
It is one of the more well known horsey statues in the world.

Since we both had our cameras, we ended up dueling again. We are going to end up with more pictures of us taking pictures than of the wonderful sights we come across in this trip.

The last stop for the day was Tivoli Gardens. For those of you that pay attention, Tivoli was the inspiration for Walt Disney when he designed Disneyland. The funny thing about Tivoli Gardens is that... well... there were no real gardens to speak of.
